History of QVIUS
In
the fall of 1972, Dr. Arthur J. Garrow formulated the basic
concepts for a university that would bring the professions together to
produce doctors of high quality, who were free from the limitations of
academic bias. Arthur J. Garrow, D.C. became the founding president
of the University of Pasadena. At the time, he was maintaining a
private practice and serving on the faculty of local chiropractic college
in Los Angeles.
The university officially opened its doors
and began instruction of a Doctorate of Chiropractic Program in
February 1973 in the city of Pasadena, CA. The fundamental mission of the
University of Pasadena was to be a functional center for higher learning.
The University was initially intended to have a number of colleges
teaching an array of subjects from a vitalistic point of view, and
producing students who were well grounded in the dynamic philosophy of
Life, Health and Healing.
The
name of the institution was officially changed to The Pasadena College
of Chiropractic in January 1978. In 1989, the Board of Trustees of the
school voted to change the school's name from Pasadena College of
Chiropractic to the Southern California College of Chiropractic
and the school was moved from
the city of Pasadena to the city of Pico Rivera, CA.
In November 1994, Dr. Edwin C. Floyd,
a graduate of the initial University of Pasadena and founding President of
the International College of Homeopathy was named President of
Southern California College of Chiropractic. Dr. Floyd returned to his
alma mater with a plan to reintroduce the university system that was the
initial mission of the school. Dr. Floyd changed the name of the Southern
California College of Chiropractic to Quantum University and began
reforming and expanding the school of chiropractic into a university
system anchored in the academics of Dynamic Medicine and Functional Health
Science.
In April of 1996, Southern California College
of Chiropractic bestowed its final Doctor of Chiropractic Degrees and
ceased operation of the school of chiropractic, bringing to an end over 25
years of producing well trained doctors of chiropractic. The
International College of Homeopathy now integrated into the
Quantum University continued in the spirit of training functional
physicians by teaching Classical Homeopathy to healthcare professionals
throughout the United States. Dr. Floyd continued to serve as president of
the International College of Homeopathy while reforming Quantum
University. Dr. David Prescott, a Chiropractor and Attorney at Law,
practicing in the state of California was for a brief time a member of the
board of Quantum University and then became the school's Vice President of
Legal Affairs. Dr. Prescott developed a program for Postgraduate Natural
Health Studies and Functional Medicine. The name of Dr. Prescott's
institution was Veritas International University. The purpose of
this program was to train doctors in those healing techniques and
modalities that are not being taught in the current healthcare schools and
colleges. At the request of Dr. Prescott, VERITAS was incorporated into
the QVIUS School of Postgraduate and Continuing Education. VERITAS
International University has since become a faith-based teaching
institution offering studies in Religious Counseling and Spiritual
Healing.
On September 8, 1998 fiduciary oversight of
Quantum University, the International College of Homeopathy, and the new
VERITAS International University came under one Board of Trustees.
The merging of the these three institutions created what is now
QUANTUM-VERITAS International University Systems, which has come to
be known and referred to as QVIUS. At the conclusion of the
September 8, 1998 meeting, Dr. Floyd was appointed President of QVIUS and
given charge of continuing the mission of creating a Dynamic center for
higher learning initially started by the University of
Pasadena. |

Mission Statement
The
mission of QUANTUM- VERITAS International University Systems
QVIUS is to
reestablish an awareness of, accurate understanding, integration of,
respect for, and practical application of the indispensable
universal laws governing life, health and
healing.
We
train students in the science and philosophy of those healing arts
whose governing principles recognize and respect the indispensable
Universal Law. Observation of an immaterial essence expressed
through matter is what distinguishes functional Dynamic
thinkers from the traditional reductionistic thinkers
(those that base their reality only on things that can be
experienced by the material/physical senses).
Universal
laws
form the foundation of dynamic functional philosophy and its
governing principles. Study of the integrated healing arts and
sciences include the academic and clinical investigation of the mode
by which universal intelligence is transported/transmitted to and
through the physical being, thus animating and expressing (life
force). | |
